Following the release of their best-selling debut album In Hatred’s Flame in 2008, the force known as EXMORTUS has returned to reclaim their rightful throne with Beyond the Fall of Time. Having spent the last three years since the release of their debut touring relentlessly throughout North America, EXMORTUS continued to hone their skills, preparing for this day when they would return with another neo-classical death thrash assault. Although many victories were won, all was not smooth sailing during this time and in spring 2010, the band faced a major line-up change with the departure of vocalist / guitarist Balmore. Such a blow might prove a major setback for a lesser band however EXMORTUS immediately rebounded stronger than ever, with lead guitarist Conan taking over vocal duties and new guitarist Sean Redline stepping in to fill the demanding position of second lead shredder. Reinvigorated and refocused with their new line-up, the band hit the studio in May 2010 to lay down two brand new demo tracks demonstrating the band’s new and even more aggressive approach.

Plans for a return to the studio to record the band’s sophomore album were being made for summer 2010 when fate once again dealt a blow as lead vocalist / guitarist Conan broke his arm in an unfortunate stage diving accident. Although studio plans were sidelined pending the healing of Conan’s arm, the band pressed on and continued to play live with Sean Redline and guest guitarist Erik Nelson of VEKTOR handling all guitar duties while frontman Conan, arm in a cast, growled away empty-handed. Months passed and by spring 2011 Conan’s arm had fully healed. Having received the green light from his doctor the band made immediate plans to hit the studio to record Beyond the Fall of Time.

Hit the studio they did, and when EXMORTUS emerged with their completed opus in summer 2011, they held in their hands a documentation of technical proficiency fused perfectly with ear-splitting, skull-smashing aggression. The fruit of their previous years labors had clearly paid off to produce an instant classic in the form of Beyond the Fall of Time. The album now complete and scheduled for release on September 27th, 2011, EXMORTUS are making plans to return to the road for a North American tour with label mates VEKTOR during late summer and fall 2011. Prepare to bow down before EXMORTUS and kneel before the steel!
